ol' dick lives in fantasy land, one of his own making though, to our detriment. to constantly pretend that Al Caca has anything to do with the US is hilarious, were it not so sad.
we were attacked by Saudi Arabia, by a few dozen people supported by the saud.
and they have twisted it into a paranoid world of boogey's coming after us. there must not be much threat from a repeat, as we have reduced all our security to nothing by taking all our military out of the country to fight shadows. we have far less security now than we did then, and still no repeat performance. and I do mean performance.
why does this country continue to pretend? because some are getting rich with the masquerade. as a whole, we are one stupid country. retarded beyond imagination. telling science it is wrong, telling the religious fanatics they are right.
how much are we going to take?
Posted by oldtree at February 23, 2007 08:08 AMCheney had better shut the fuck up and return to Washington and his duties as Bush's babysitter.
The fact is, Beijing hold the majority of the USA's debt in the form of Treasury Bonds and were it not for China, he and Bush wouldn't have the money to build the Middle East empire.

1. Park shuttle next to enemy satellite.
2. Spacewalk to satellite.
3. Wrap NASA "Orlando class" diaper around satellite.
4. Secure with $5,ooo roll of NASA\Haliburton ductape.
5. Fly away! Fly away!
"and have been sending shuttles on secret satellite weapons missions for the last five years."
I'm still laughing with Tiki's joke, but I am confused by this statement, Steve. Look at the list of shuttle missions from Mar 2002 - all of them except for the last shuttle flight that serviced Hubble in Mar 2002, were flown to the ISS. Unless the ISS or Hubble has a BFG installed on it, I think you're wrong.
Or that there is some secret shuttle system ala West Wing.
Posted by idiosynchronic at February 23, 2007 08:47 AMThe Viet Cong broke Deferment Dick's pissant "will" from a distance of thousands of miles back in the day.
Fucker has no sense of his own history.
Posted by God Of War at February 23, 2007 09:10 AMYes, GOW, you have to be truly Cong-petrified to turn to total beeotch impregnation.
Id, if NASA is involved in Project Diaper-Disable, they're not going to tell us, are they?
Can you see snow from your perch in the Darthdick Building? 79 in Tempe yesterday.
My wife's been rubbing it in already, Al. She's on vacation in Starkville, Mississippi, near Birmingham and Memphis. It was 69 there yesterday.
The snow we've had is more or less 1/2 gone from the warmer weather we've had over the last week or so. But the next couple days are 32* fence-sitters with rain/snow/ice precip. Just north of here, they're predicting a foot of snow instead of the mix.
And if your insurance is Principal, there's a reason those fuckers erected the Darthdick building.
Posted by idiosynchronic at February 23, 2007 09:42 AMHonorable Dick, terrorism savant. Last month we couldn't let Iraq become a "launching pad" for terrorism. Now Iraq is a "battle of wills" with "al-qaeda" (the Iraq version or Top Dog Osama's version? Who knows...)
Dick, since the Speaker won't say it, allow me: the invasion of Iraq was an enormous diversion of our national resources AWAY from the REAL battle against al qaeda. Just as Hitler in the summer of '41 diverted his panzer divisions south into the Ukraine and away from Moscow, which lay defenseless, we diverted our military resources out of eastern Afghanistan in early "02 and toward the strategically erroneous target of Iraq.
To Osama, like the Soviets in '41, this gross strategic error must have appeared "miraculous", truly a gift from Allah. It took the immediate overwhelming pressure off al qaeda, and affirmed everything al qaeda had always said about America being anti-muslim. As a real terror expert, Richard Clarke, has observed, the invasion of Iraq was like answering a prayer of Osama.
Dick, have you ever thought that maybe "al-qaeda's" strategy is to KEEP US in Iraq with all their deadly provocations? That the last thing they want is for us to start withdrawing? That they get substantial strategic and tactical benefits from having a hated American occupation in a muslim land? If they really wanted us to "quit" (i.e. leave), wouldn't they just "lie low" and let things seem "secure"?
Osmama has stated that he feels that the mujahadeen brought down the Soviet Union through the military outlays the Soviets incurred in their Afghanistan Ulcer. He thinks he can do the same thing to us economically with our Iraq Ulcer. Thus HE will have brought both superpowers to economic ruin and eclipse, at least in his eyes.
But presumably Honorable Dick is well aware that this is likely Osama's real "strategy", to the extent he has one. But Dick couldn't care less about Osama's "strategy".
What is important for Deadeye is that EVERY argument out of his mouth lead to the conclusion that our Iraq Occupation (like Israel's West Bank occupation) is essentially permanent. Thus, we can't leave if there is ANYONE in Iraq who might think to use it as a "launching pad" for Islamic terror. And now we can't leave if there is ANYONE in Iraq still shooting at and killing American troops, cause that will lose us the "battle of wills".
And thus Madame Speaker, please inform Americans that the invasion of Iraq clearly BENEFITTED al qaeda, was a diversion of our attention AWAY from the real threat of al qaeda, and that Cheney's underlying rationale is ALWAYS that we must occupy Iraq PERMANENTLY. Don't worry about attacking your "patriotism"--that's not very persuasive.

When in the last six years has reality played in role in foreign policy?
And remember that cheney knows he's an independent, forth branch of the Federal government, accountable only to himself.
Posted by Jim Faith at February 23, 2007 10:09 AMYour last comment in the piece, Steve, stopped me.
Could you provide more detail about the statement of "sending shuttles on secret satellite weapons missions for the last five years"?
I would like to know more.
Other than that, your thinking is quite "straight down the middle of the freeway" logic-wise.
Posted by Troubled American at February 23, 2007 10:40 AMThanks to the Cheney administration, America's non-negotiable lifestyle is more likely to end meanly. Hopefully, their actions will be more widely recognized and suitably rewarded.

Anyway, aside from that...Dick Cheney. What is there to say? What a dick. Look at him. He oozes prickness.
Posted by Brian Bell at February 23, 2007 09:47 PMIt seems to me that the strategy Darth Cheney is ascribing to Al Quida is exactly the strategy we have been persuing in Iraq for the past four years. If we kill enough of them, if we torture enough of them, if we bomb them and hound them through the streets and invade their home, we will break their will and they will submit to our authority. Asshat.
