Firedog is not only getting creamed, I believe its server is on fire.

The Vice President's #1 man is a convicted liar and a crook. I'll sleep well tonite, knowing that the VP and Pres knew nothing of this crook's activities.

Wait. I thought Wilson and Plame were going to be executed for treason. Rove is a hero. John Gibson told me so.

Oh fuck, I just experienced an episode of wingnuttia dementia. Sorry, carry on.

Wait. I thought Wilson and Plame were going to be executed for treason.

Well, Bush hasn't finished firing all the prosecutors who fail to push his partisan agenda. Give it time.

Too bad he'll never see the inside of a jail cell.

Posted by snark at March 6, 2007 09:45 AM

Wolf knocks down assertion Mrs. Wilson's NOC identity well known among cocktail weenie illuminati.
Fitzgerald addressing press, "...won't retract 'cloud over WH' court comment..." Yowza!
Understatement of the day: CNN, "Much more to come."

Posted by Pvt. Keepout at March 6, 2007 09:49 AM

Fitzgerald says without new information his investigation is now inactive. Am I crazy or is this a job for the House of Representatives?

Posted by Surcam at March 6, 2007 10:02 AM

Fitz, speaking slowly to the slow witted..."yes, on the face of the indictment, it states very clearly and I have no doubt that this is the case, Valerie Plame's employment at the CIA was classified" (this is not an actual quote, but it reflects the answer Fitz just gave at his press briefing on steps of courthouse). Now, if Fox and the Tom MacGuires of this world will just take their Mickey Mouse ears off, they might finally get it.

In answering the question of, is Cheney next? Fitz replies that the investigation is "inactive".

First day of accountability (Libby, Walter Reed hearings & US Attorney firings on CSPAN3) feeling pretty good.

Posted by mainsailset at March 6, 2007 10:07 AM

Is there a difference between being a "covert agent" and your employment being classified? Fitzgerald did make it very clear that her status was classified, despite all the people who said she drove right over to Langley in plain sight. But the whole assigned overseas in the past 5 yrs thing--is that different?

Posted by CG at March 6, 2007 10:13 AM

Bushco: convicted felon at the highest levels.

Baldly lying to a sitting grand jury looking into illegal leaks of classified intelligence information.

History being written, scandalous criminal behavior being set in stone for all time.

The face of American Conservatism.

Posted by euzoius at March 6, 2007 10:28 AM

Cheney should worry about the Wilson's civil suit! That's the one where he goes down!!

Posted by goose1 at March 6, 2007 10:31 AM

What terrible timing having this conviction finally occur on the same day of the explosive senate testimony about Bushco's manipulation of the independence of our US attorneys---goddam it!!

Posted by euzoius at March 6, 2007 10:32 AM

CG, you are only covert if you are working overseas.

It'll be interesting to see what little secrets Scooter will give up once he's sentenced. I wonder if the Secret Service do assassinations?

Posted by tempus at March 6, 2007 10:52 AM

CG, the best discussion I've seen on the matter of Valerie's status was over at Larry Johnson's site, NO QUARTER. He goes into the the clarification that assignment within 5 years overseas is not exclusively defined by being stationed (living there) but by taking assignments for brief periods within 5 years. And it has been reported that Valerie did indeed take assignments overseas, one to Jordon, within that 5 year prior to Novak's outting her. Of course Valerie was only the tip of the Brewster Jennings operation that suffered from Libby's game and thus as we stand today as a country scratching our heads on Iran intel because a branch of that intel was pulled out by the roots.

Posted by tempus at March 6, 2007 10:52 AM

Do you really?

There were a couple (coughcoughWellstonecoughcough) of things (coughcoughCarnahancoughcough) that cause me to question that assessment...

Or are you contending that there is another department within the Putsch cabal that takes care of that sort of thing?

Posted by (: Tom :) at March 6, 2007 11:23 AM

"I wonder if the Secret Service do assassinations?"

Tempus, I don't know. Ask the Kennedy's, the family of King, those who went down in small aircraft, and foreign governments.

Posted by Judith at March 6, 2007 11:25 AM

exactly Mainsailset. For the trolls, the point is that Plame headed up the very clearly most important section in the war on terror - WMD. That Bush and Cheney would have purposely (now proven) out the one person at the CIA that could do the most to help keep WMD from spreading to terrorists shows that it's never been about protecting the public from this threat, its only ever been POLITICS with those criminals. And that is dereliction of duty on a huge scale for Bush and Cheney.

Posted by T2 at March 6, 2007 11:29 AM

Merry Fitzmas to all you trolls who said this was much to do about nothing. Evidently, John Q. Public doesn't feel that way. The fat lady is singing. WOO HOO!

Why hasn't there been any big coverage of the whole Brewster Jennings thing and what they did and what we've lost because of this whole fiasco? I don't think I've heard or read one word about that except on blogs. Why didn't Dana Priest do a big story on this? Grrr.

Posted by CG at March 6, 2007 11:33 AM

How about a congressional investigation on what damage was done to the CIA and who is responsible with everyone having to testify under oath.

This means the blood clot kid, too. Impeach Cheney first, oh party of the vacuous sack.

Posted by TIKI AL at March 6, 2007 11:37 AM

CG, Grrrr it is! The hope (hard for cynical me) is that Congress will take up the field of work that Fitz has plowed for them. I've heard it discussed on the blogs how interesting it would be if Congress sent Mr. Libby a subpoena because there certainly are (expecially in light of today's verdict) dots Libby has in his pocket to connect; the idea that Libby, as a convicted felon (and thus more vulnerable) could face NEW charges stemming from a Congressional investigation would like to rollover for Congress and spill a few beans makes an interesting piece of leverage for Congress. Congress of course could nothing to soften Libby's fall relating to today's verdict, but the prospect of NEW charges from a Congressional standpoint certainly must be jarring a few of the Libby camp's nerves.
Oh yeah, and if you have a few Bayer and can take the time, Rush is pretty funny to listen to right now, he's actually stuttering.

Posted by mainsailset at March 6, 2007 12:14 PM

If all the naysayers has bothered to read Fitzgerald's indictment of Libby, they could have seen that the trial would be a slam dunk.

The weasel Novak is still spewing lies. As is Buchanan. Why can't these two get it into their fat heads that the CIA mission to Niger was at the request of the VP's office. That Joe Wilson never said that he'd been sent at Cheney's request. And that his wife did not select him for the mission. --sigh -- and Novak would still have the world believe that there was no central crime of outting a CIA NOC when Fitzgerald has said repeatedly that that was established before he was selected as the special prosecutor.

Posted by Marie at March 6, 2007 12:30 PM

Now it's up to the Congress to step-up to the plate and do their job.

Hold hearings into the roles of Rove and Cheney in the leak and refer their findings to the special prosecutor.

Fitzgerald is waiting.

Posted by Christopher at March 6, 2007 12:35 PM

"And yet Karl Rove and Dick Cheney still walk the West Wing." From the sounds of it Fat Bastard (Cheney) mostly sits around the West Wing -- damn phlebitis always seems to get crooked Nixonian pols

Here's more on what our country has lost and how it endangered lives and our national security when they outted Plame. This is the best video I've found on it. It also discusses her status and the dangerous operations she was involved in.
