Hard To Collect Funds With A Halo

Religious types like to spout about how God works in mysterious ways. One such miracle just might be in the works.

First, a bit of background:

Are mainstream churches finally standing up to the GOP’s hateful “Christian” blitzkrieg?
by Bob Fitrakis and Harvey Wasserman

With huge torrents of cash from Richard Mellon Scaife, the Ahmanson family and other super-rich ultra-rightists, the fundamentalist church has formed the popular network that has spawned the Bush catastrophe. The totalitarian alliance between pulpit, corporation and military is unique in U.S. history.

With contempt for the Constitution, and unholy opposition to separation of church and state, ultra-rich ultra-right preachers like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, self-proclaimed messiahs like Rev. Moon, and sanctimonious errand boys like Ralph Reed and Grover Norquist, have turned America into a “Christo-fascist” empire whose twice-unelected executive claims Divine right to rule.

When it comes to their views on violence, empire, greed and intolerance,
these are the most un-Christian men in America.

Look what their faith has brought them.

Christian Coalition shrinks as debt grows
By Alan Cooperman and Thomas B. Edsall
The Washington Post

The once-mighty Christian Coalition, founded 17 years ago by the Rev. Pat Robertson as the political fundraising and lobbying engine of the Christian right, is more than $2 million in debt, beset by creditors' lawsuits and struggling to hold on to some of its state chapters.

"The credibility is just not there like it once was," said Stephen L. Scheffler, president of the Iowa affiliate since 2000. "The budget has shrunk from $26 million to $1 million. There's a trail of debt. . . .

That's God's way of telling you not to advocate assassination, Pat. You should know the reason, considering you claim to be God's follower, after all. I'll give you a hint - it's a little thing called the Sixth Commandment. But then, what's a little sin among Republican friends? Your God is known as Mammon, and his commandments don't include those of Jehovah, do they?

You now know which God is more powerful.
