Toppling More Than One Regime

On the four-year anniversary of a photo op and the toppling of Baghdad, and a day after Muqtada al-Sadr called on his Shiite followers in the police and security services to unite against the Americans, tens of thousands marched in Iraq to demand that we leave.

As the surge goes on, the insurgents shift tactics to adjust to our increasing strength inside the city. Car bombings and executions are on the rise again, while the Iraqi government does little to pursue the reconciliation upon which the surge was based.

And how long will vulnerable GOP senators and representatives stick with Bush and the surge this fall when their National Guard units get called up in December for a yearlong tour?
