Hillary Clinton: Nakedly Ambitiously Calculating Divorce-Hater

by eriposte

How fascinating it is to discover that some conservatives' view of family values is to extol the virtues of divorce (WaPo article, emphasis mine):

But interviews with voters in the [conservative-leaning Upstate NY] region serve as a reminder of just how strong the antipathy toward Clinton is in some, who vow they will fight much harder to stop her than they would other Democrats.

To explain their dislike, some cited Clinton's staying with her husband after the Monica Lewinsky affair, a decision they said revealed her calculating ambition.

As it turns out, Republican Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, who has recently been on an anti-Hillary rampage with his colleagues in the freak-show known as the GOP Presidential campaign, went slightly off-script back in August on this very matter:

Republican presidential contender (and former Arkansas governor) Mike Huckabee during an interview set to air today on National Public Radio's The Bryant Park Project:

This will really rankle some of my Republican colleagues: Bill Clinton and Hillary went through some horrible experiences in their marriage because of some of the reckless behavior that he has admitted he had. I am not defending him on that, it's indefensible.

Just let's not let it get lost on us that they kept their marriage together. They raised a magnificent daughter. Chelsea is truly a delightful human being. ... She's polite, thoughtful, intelligent and everything you would hope a daughter to be. But they kept their marriage together.

And a lot of the Republicans who have condemned them and talk about their platform of family values, interestingly, didn't keep their own families together. Give Bill and Hillary Clinton credit for doing something we say they should have done and that is hold their marriage together in spite of enormous trials.

C'mon, Mike! Don't you know that Hillary Clinton is just nakedly ambitious? A person who was so extraordinarily calculating that she committed the cardinal sin of being cheated on by her husband, forgiving him and working with him to hold their marriage together for the sake of their daughter! I say, it's time you apologize to your base for not calling out this sin. I mean, what would Jesus say?!

P.S. Mike, you know what, I'm just a rube. So when I see you applaud "Bill and Hillary Clinton" for holding their marriage together and how "they kept their marriage together", I guess that makes sense since Bill cheated on Hillary and he deserves to be applauded first for keeping their marriage together 'n all. I'm sure Hillary's role in this was kinda secondary - since she was the one who committed the sin of being cheated on, right? (Or does your phrasing have to do with the fact that Hillary is a, you know, um...)
